CLASSES WE OFFER

Inclusive dance classes for every Body

ONLINE DANCE CLASSES

Voluntary Donation

Due to Coronavirus our in-person classes have come to a halt for the time being. But at Blŵm Dance we haven't let that stop us dancing! We have simply moved our classes online.  The class is based on our Dance for Parkinson’s class but is accessible for all mobilities and ages. It challenges while still being a fun chance to move your body through self isolation - and the playlist is great!

We have been creating playlists of exercises on our Vimeo and YouTube accounts every week which you can follow along to for a full class, or simply pick and choose individual exercises you would like to participate in, perfect for having that quick dancing fix! Prerecorded group classes, livestreams  and one-to-ones are all available.

The links to the classes will be posted here on the website in the "News" section every week, or if you sign up to our mail list they will be delivered straight to your inbox!

All Blŵm Dance is asking in return for these online classes is for a voluntary donation to our PayPal account - just so we can keep the company afloat during this time! Suggested donation is £5 per class as this is the rate of our in-person classes. Blŵm Dance PayPal is right here - https://www.paypal.me/blwmdance

Get in touch to discuss logistics and rates of one-to-ones.

DANCE FOR EARLY ONSET PARKINSONS

£5

A fun and friendly class for those with early-onset or in the early stages of Parkinson's and their friends, family and carers. Movement material for the class will include an array of styles from contemporary, jazz, ballet and musical theatre. The focus of these classes is on having fun and creating a community of like-minded dancers. No previous dance experience is necessary.

Sophie has undergone training in Dance for Parkinson's through People Dancing - The Foundation of Community Dance, having attended multiple courses since graduating. She also has a lifetime of experience in interacting with people with Parkinson's due to her mother having Early Onset for most of Sophie's life.

FUN DANCE

£5

Fun Dance was created to offer a stress-free, no pressure dance class where there is no striving to achieve a certain 'look' or technique. Dancing in this class is simply for fun. We will learn group dances in all styles of dance to popular songs (requests welcome!) from old Charlston numbers to 80s style disco! This class is for all whether you are 8 or 80 and is not limited to only those who are considered 'able-bodied'. If you are in a wheelchair - no worries! This class is just as much for you as it is for everyone else.

Blŵm Dance is hoping to host socials one day in the not so far future, perhaps one of these fun dances will make an appearance at one of those!

ADULT CONTEMPORARY

£5

Dancers attending this class will participate in a professional standard contemporary dance class based on Graham, release and flying low techniques. The class will be a challenging mixture of floorwork, freestanding and travelling exercise which will develop your contemporary dance technique alongside strength agility and flexibility.

The class may be professional standard, but that doesn't mean you have to be! Those with no previous dance experience are more than welcome to class as well as anyone with accessibility issues whether you are in a wheelchair or have learning difficulties. At Blŵm Dance all are welcome.

ONE ON ONE OR SMALL GROUP CLASSES

£20 an hour + hall hire

These sessions are perfect for anyone with specific injuries or ailments, alongside being very beneficial for those with accessibility issues who would benefit from personal attention. Sophie will lead a personalised class for you, first taking the time to talk through your aims of the session - whether it's to learn some exercises that help an injury or just to have fun! Using her knowledge from dance, personal training and falls prevention Sophie will create the perfect session for your needs.

These sessions can be lead in Blŵm Dance's usual venue St Margarets Hall or elsewhere if that is more convenient for the dancer. Please get in touch if interested and Sophie will be more than happy to talk through some options with you.
